Issue Date: 2017
Abstract: Reminder is an application that is to remind not only the creator of the event but also to remind anyone that is interested to the given event. The application is proposed by Dr. Chan Chee Keong after he observes that old people normally need other people to remind them to take medicine. Thus, he chooses to have a project to help these people. There is much discussion on how does one application to a send reminder. From SMS to e-mail to WhatsApp but eventually I want to expend on the idea of using push notification supported by Firebase Notification to build the application. The application eventually used 5 main services provided by Firebase; Firebase Authentication, Firebase Realtime Database, Firebase Notifications, Firebase Hosting and Firebase Functions. The development of the application will be mainly on Android thus a lot of coding will be done to display and capture the data. Coding will also address the synchronization of Android with Firebase as well as to display information on mobile screen. Other than Android a Webpage are also being deployed for this project. After study of other “reminder” application, I had found that most popular “reminder” apps come with more than one form of platform for their user. Since Firebase do support cross-platform development, is it the best to include webpage into the application.
