dc.description.abstractThe following report explores on the impact of storytelling in the making of a nation and in the course of inquiry, Singapore is adopted as a case study. In particular, the case study focuses on the 2015 General Election which was indeed the first General Election in Singapore whereby all seats were contested after over 50 years. On that note, the report explores on how political parties have leveraged on storytelling as a knowledge management tool to enhance their market value, in the course of nation-building. Singapore adopts a Westminster model of parliamentary representative democratic system whereby the Parliamentarians are elected by the citizens. The first part of the report provides the background to the research in terms of providing pertinent information to Knowledge Management, Storytelling and Nation-Building with credible examples from different socio-political settings. With sufficient information on the background of concerned and related entities, the research framework is articulated in terms of the Research Question. The second part of the report expands on the Literature Review exploring concepts of 'storytelling' and 'nation-building'. Alongside such inquiry, the relationship between these two concepts is also explored and theoretical frameworks are identified accordingly. From time to time, Singapore and the 2015 General Election will be juxtaposed onto the available literature for contextualization purposes. The third part of the report sets out to explain the research methodology in terms of the background to 2015 General Elections dating back to the early years of Singapore. The research dwells upon the issues championed by various political parties, priorities of Generation X-Y and Pioneer Generation as well as the strategies employed by political parties in the course of campaigning for votes. The fourth part of the report articulates the findings of the research highlighting the key findings in terms of the issues championed by political parties, priorities of electorate from Generations X-Y and Pioneer Generation, storytelling strategies employed by political parties and the relevant linkages that can be drawn from these findings. The final part of the report highlights on the areas in which different political parties should embark upon so as to ascertain greater success, in light of future elections leading to the making of Singapore as a nation.en_US
