Abstract: The Sky Painter is a 2D hand-drawn animated short about familial love, empathy and learning to look past the surface of life. To bring out the intense emotion of the film, acting choices, color palette and design direction of the film were carefully crafted. Visual aesthetics play a huge part in this short film in conveying the story. This Final Year Project (FYP) report documents the process of making of The Sky Painter. It introduces the film in its initial conception, and presents its growth into the final renders. It will share insights of the production team, from artistic and technical decisions made, to challenges faced during production and the solutions implemented to overcome these problems.
