Abstract: Autonomous vehicle is a hot topic in these days, it is fusion of sensor technology , control technology, even artificial intelligence. It is combination of both software technology and hardware technology. There are so many kinds of designs in realizing an real autonomous vehicle, this thesis describes one method to build an autonomous vehicle which only need very low cost of less than 3000 Singapore dollars , it may not run on urban circumstance but it is useful in some specific place with easy environment such as golf court. This autonomous vehicle is composed of only two sensors(a Trimble BX935-INS GPS and a radar SICK S3000), one factory computer and a golf buggy. Its accuracy is 0.25m +1ppm horizontal and 0.50m +1ppm vertical , the experiments done in this project show that after debugging the parameters, set the parameter 1 in the algorithm to 1 meter ,the parameter 2 to 0.3 seconds, the parameter 3 to 3 meters *4 meters. The vehicle can run without hits smoothly on the experimental road in Sentosa golf club. It shows a successful practical try to realize an autonomous vehicle with low cost and it is highly possible that it can run normally in the similar circumstances.
