Abstract: According to the significant implication of researching smart buildings which are critical to human life, this project intends to improve the residential and working comfort level and energy efficiency. Based on this view, we have done a simulation of our lab space. We aim to build a model and conduct simulation for it in order to obtain the energy consumption data which can be referred to for further improvements. In the beginning, I introduced and analyzed the function and components possessed by smart buildings, such as HVAC systems, followed by the introduction of powerful simulation tools TRNSYS and EnergyPlus. After comparison, I selected EnergyPlus as the main analytical simulation tool. In addition, I depicted the specific simulation process step by step, followed by data analysis and discussion on the energy efficiency.
