Abstract: This report takes an in depth look at the banking and finance sectors in Egypt and Israel. Both Egypt and Israel are moving towards complete privatisation of the banking sector. Privatisation is likely to make the Egyptian banking sector more efficient, whereas the increase in competition in the Israeli banking sector will offer more choices to the customers. Islamic banking is already a viable alternative for Egyptian customers, while it is in its infancy in Israel.
