Abstract: Sunrise in Gangneung is a melancholic screenplay depicting the a loyal lover who has lost her identity over the course of a long-term relationship and a dismayed divorcee refuting his role as a father. A Singaporean tourist, Ana Cho, retreats to the coastal town of Gangneung after witnessing her fiancé’s affair back in Seoul. In seemingly fated encounters, Ana strikes up a comfortable acquaintance with a local, Park Seong Su. This is a mellow story about two confused souls, accustomed to living within the confines of their own prison, being each other’s perfect stranger.
