Abstract: Dating Jitters is a visual effects (VFX) short film in the romantic comedy genre produced by Ashley Tay, Emmanuel Lim, Chen Juntao and myself. The story goes, where two individuals, Frank and Samantha, find themselves trying to hide their “nervous monsters” from each other while trying to have a proper date. Their monsters grow bigger and caused more havoc in relation to the amount of anxiety they feel. This was a problem as it threatened to expose their true feelings during the date. The main VFX theme of this project was to explore the use of computer generated (CG) assets to interact with actual actors using VFX props, and to experience the full VFX pipeline process. We used various softwares such as Nuke, Maya, Z-brush, Syntheyes, Mocha Pro and Houdini to achieve our VFX. The film was shot on an ALEXA camera. This report aims to highlight and examine the contributions and experiences to the completion of the film.
