Title: | The sound of Better Together | Authors: | Heng, Diana Basil Li Jiao | Keywords: | DRNTU::Visual arts and music | Issue Date: | 2018 | Abstract: | Better Together has always been a film about family from the beginning, and the character Rachel’s realisation of the importance of family. It dabbles with a fictional depiction of the political environment in Singapore and the theme of Old versus New. The film is a light-hearted satirical comedy aimed to resonate with Singaporeans with familiar anecdotes that we grew up with, thus, we have adopted a playful and quirky attitude in developing and designing the film. This film is important to me as a sound designer and as a group, as we believe in the story that we want to share and I think that it is also a relatable story that would resonate well with the viewers. I think that this film is also a big stepping stone for Singapore, especially in a climate where films avoid the topic of politics. By creating a fictional political world in Singapore and infusing our local flavour with boldness, I think Singaporeans who view this will appreciate the satire that is behind it and can live vicariously through the eyes of the characters in Better Together. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/74297 | Schools: | School of Art, Design and Media | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
