Abstract: Young Nights is a coming of age story. Zac the protagonist feels stifled by his mother’s expectations and the dogma of faith. He is a 15 years old model student, who is now entering the final year of his secondary school education. Zac is faced with a huge decision- to accept a scholarship or to pursue music. At this important juncture of his life, Zac forms an unlikely friendship with Kester the school’s problem child. Lending him the courage to finally be true to himself and finally break out of the cocoon of expectations weaved by his mother and religion.
