Title: | Silence is not golden | Authors: | Wong, Pei Si | Keywords: | DRNTU::Visual arts and music | Issue Date: | 2018 | Abstract: | Silence Is Not Golden is an animated short film about the real-life story of Nigel Ng Qin Wei, and is named after his autobiography of the same title . He suffers from Selective Mutism, a ra re anxiety disorder 1 which severely affects his ability to speak under certain circumstances. The film depicts how he had his biggest breakthrough by writing his autobiography to raise awareness of his condition. Since there is very little knowledge of Selective Mutism among the general population, the film’s objective is to raise awareness about the condition, in particular Nigel’s story whic h is set in Singapore. It depicts his struggles and how, by writing them down, he publishes a book. It is meant to evoke empathy in the audience. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/74474 | Schools: | School of Art, Design and Media | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
