dc.description.abstract | This project is in collaboration with Microsec to assist them in implementing a new secure asset tracking system using BLE beacons. The project aims at preventing the replication of classic beacons currently being used. This resulted in substantial security with good level of precision in terms of proximity of Beacon. The project is subdivided into three components: • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacon • Raspberry Pi • Django server BLE beacon can be heard by Bluetooth capable devices as they broadcast signal periodically and do not try to receive anything. Rpi will pick up the signal and send the data received from Beacon to Django web server. Server takes the nearby Beacon ID’s and various information sent by the Beacon to keep tracking it continuously. Besides just keeping track of the assets, this platform aims to secure the end to end transmission of information so that the cloning of beacons and transmission of false data is prevented. This is the asset tracking model that is anticipated with wide range of security features incorporated into it. PKE encryption is combined with ECC cryptographic keys to provide outstanding communication security with PKI infrastructure. This helps in having unspoofable, temporal and authenticated certificates which is the security goal to have secure asset tracking. The Integrity and Availability of the certificates sent by the beacon are crucial and have been maintained in the project. | en_US |
