Issue Date: 2018
Abstract: Singapore have been experiencing the issue of ageing population for years and elderly living alone are often provided with insufficient monitoring. The objective of this project is to develop a monitoring system that uses long range radio frequency communication with sensors to monitor the elderly activities and send alert in the event of emergency. Research was made before choosing Sigfox as the RF communication. Integration of the Sigfox transmitter with the accelerometer sensor was then done to allow better monitoring. After integration and testing, the developed system can send out warning messages for both indoor and outdoor. Additional functions like fall detection and activity tracking are also available where emails will be sent out to update care giver. However, due to the limited resources and time, only the concept and development is done. The prototype has yet to be mass produced for better testing.
