Title: | Design and development of energy management system (EMS) for a microgrid | Authors: | Yeo, Kai Wen | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering | Issue Date: | 2018 | Abstract: | As more countries develops, the need for energy also increases. For the grid to be reliable, the supply from the power grid and demand of the consumers must balance. Nowadays, modern equipment and appliances are incorporated with electronics and microprocessors which are sensitive to power quality and reliability problems. Any shortage of power from the grid or sudden spike of the energy demand will cause an interruption that would affect these loads. Hence, there is a need to have a reliable power supply. A microgrid system can integrate with renewable generators which can reduce the reliance on the utility grid. However, because there is more than one source, there is a need for an efficient Energy Management System (EMS) for power management and control. In this project, the EMS makes use of various techniques to optimise the system. LabVIEW is the main program used for simulation and for gathering data. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/74937 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
