Abstract: According to the statistics of old-age support ratio, the numbers of residents aged 20-64 years for each resident aged 65 years and over have been falling. There were 7.4 in 2010, as compared to a decrease to 5.1 in the year 2017. Consequently, these numbers justify that Singapore has an ageing population. With an ageing population, it also means that the number of elderly with diseases will increase rapidly. To add on, we live in a generation where diseases have reached such an extraordinary level. This raises a worrying concern towards the healthcare sector, especially for those elderly living alone. Therefore, there is a need to design a system that will be able to alleviate and tackle this problem. In this project, a Healthcare Alarm System is designed to measure and monitor the vital signs such as heart rate and temperature. Although there are already existing Healthcare Alarm Systems in the market, they are expensive and thus for all those elderly who could not afford, a cheaper Healthcare Alarm System will be essential.
