Issue Date: 2018
Abstract: Pulse oximeter has serves its purpose not only in the hospitals and clinics, but it is increasingly being used at home for self-checking as well. This is because pulse oximeter uses non-invasive technique to measure; it is compact, cheap, and easy to use. This project describes the collection and analysis of photoplethysmography (PPG) signal via the pulse plethysmography circuit amplifier. The circuit simply uses a finger probe to collect the PPG signal, which will be processed and digitized by the NI DAQ to LabVIEW and subsequently MATLAB for analysis. As several data parameters can be obtained from the PPG signal, occurrence of sleep apnea can be determined by comparing and observing the differences between a normal subject and subject with sleep apnea. The detection of sleep apnea from the signals is investigated using time-domain means, which is often used, and together with frequency-domain method for an improved and more accurate version
