Title: | Islanding detection in microgrid | Authors: | Muhammad Mubarak Syed Ahmad | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering | Issue Date: | 2018 | Abstract: | Renewable energy has become widely available today. This has made consumers with options of alternative energy sources. Distribution Generations (DG) not only let consumers provide energy to their system but also sell it to the national grid if there is a surplus of supply. In Singapore, this has made the electricity market competitive. Islanding detection methods in microgrids are used to detect imbalance power flow between the consumer side and main grid. Once detected, the isolated microgrid will need to support the load. The disconnection from the main grid can cause fluctuation of parameters such as voltage, frequency, phase angle, etc. Microgrid needs ensure the deviation does not affect the load. During islanding, the reduction of supply may not support the load. As such, load shedding of energy storage system may be needed to compensate the losses. In this project, we look into the case studies on how the microgrid will react after islanding operation. The effects of energy storage system are on compensating the losses of the main grid and response of the load if supply is not enough to support. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/75037 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
