Abstract: Nowadays government paid more attention on traffic management since it is one of the important factors for country’s success. However, traffic congestion is getting worse and worse with the growing of economic. Singapore government had released some policies to tackle the congestion problem such as Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) and increasing the cost of vehicle. The policies did improve traffic congestion in Singapore, but economic solutions are just short-term solutions. With the growing of economics, time is more precious to them. Traffic signal is a traditional method to control the traffic. When it is used properly traffic signal will be a very efficient way for traffic controlling. In this paper, a traffic signal which is set up based on Reinforcement Learning concept will be proposed. The aim of this project is to find out an optimal policy to increase the effectiveness of traffic signal at traffic intersection.
