Title: Discovering NTU with augmented reality
Authors: Tey, Jun Yuan
Keywords: DRNTU::Engineering
Issue Date: 2018
Abstract: As Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has many buildings, with many lecture theatres, tutorial rooms, laboratories, research centers, offices, shops and eating places spread across them, many people, especially visitors and freshmen, find themselves having difficulties navigating through the different venues in NTU. The objective of this project is to develop a mobile application which guides users from their current locations to their destinations in indoor settings. The method used in this project is Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM). With the incorporation of Augmented Reality (AR), the results of this project provide users with a highly accurate and reliable navigation system which does not require any wireless communications like WiFi, GPS or beacon technology.
