|Title:||Evaluation of an artificial venous valve||Authors:||Chua, Yilong||Keywords:||DRNTU::Engineering||Issue Date:||2018||Abstract:||Chronic venous insufficiency is a condition whereby the venous valves fail to function properly and result in the backflow of blood. This backflow makes it difficult for blood to return from the lower extremities of a human body back to the heart. There is a need for new prosthetic design to replace these diseased native venous valves in a human body. In this report, the steps in designing molds for the non-optimized design and optimized design of prosthetic venous valves are presented as well as conduits that are tested for their coadaptation in an in-vitro venous loop setup. Results in this experiment concluded that coadaptation of both designs in the in-vitro venous loop are positive and they can open and close under low pressure and pulsatile frequency.
