Abstract: Venture capital is a popular method of financing high technology and high-risk enterprises in developed countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Recently, China has established venture capital firms in both the private and public sectors to finance technology-related and new small- and medium- sized enterprises. This paper describes the development of venture capital in China and analyzes the criteria required for a venture capital firm to invest in a venture after a brief introduction of venture capital.
