Issue Date: 2018
Abstract: The dissertation uses ultra-wide band impulse radio (UWB-IR) as the basic signal to implement ranging and positioning system. Property of UWB-IR is introduced and ranging and position estimation algorithms are studied in this dissertation. For example, angle of arrival (AOA) and time of arrival (TOA). Maximum likelihood (ML) function and gradient descent method are chosen to tackle the inaccurate problems incurred by noise. Python is used to simulate the gradient descent performance. Line of sight (LOS) and non-line of sight (NLOS) of positioning system are discussed, simulated and compared by their mean square error (MSE) values. Iterative minimum residual (IMR) is implemented to eliminate the NLOS nodes. At last, Cramer Rao Lower Bound (CRLB) is used as the benchmark to analyze the accuracy of positioning system.
