Abstract: We described an implementation of the automatic vanishing points detection algorithm in this project. The images of our target are those with no more than 3 vanishing points and have clear feature lines like an urban scene or angular structures. The algorithm is found to be fast and effective for an image with clear feature lines but struggles with an image with few feature lines. The information of vanishing points obtained was then used to compute length information between points on the image in the world space and an example of an image was used for full 3D reconstruction.
