Abstract: LED cube is very popular among those who love DIY. It is a three-dimensional array consisting of light emitting diodes which is controlled by microcontrollers or digital signal processors. Under the control of the control units, LED cube can show different stereo graphics and even animations by utilizing the visual temporary stay phenomenon. But usually the available LED cubes are only 8 points by 8 points by 8 points in size. Its low resolution restricted its practical use. In this thesis, a new kind of LED cube of 16*16*16 points are designed with potential to expand. This LED cube can be used for demonstrations in teaching and many other situations.
