Title: Self-cleaning engineered cementitious composites for pavement application inside tunnel

Abstract: Engineered Cementitious Composite (ECC) is a special type of fiber-reinforced cementitious composite with properties such as high tensile ductility. ECC has unique characteristics for its high ductility. Many construction companies worldwide foresee great potential in ECC for being a material that will replace concrete due to its better performance and good structural material in the future. ECC has already been used in structural components such as beams in buildings which slowly taking over the use of concrete structures. In this study, the mixture design of ECC has been modified to enhance the self-cleaning function for pavement application, especially inside the tunnel. The reason is the concentrate of emission inside the tunnel is relatively higher. However, inside the tunnel, the UV light might be very limited. Therefore, the objective is to develop a pavement that has self-cleaning function enabled by visible light.
