|Title:||风景的诗学 ： 林徽因的自然书写 = Poetic of landscape : Lin Hui Yin’s nature writing||Authors:||吴晓惠 Goh, Joanne Xiao Hui||Keywords:||DRNTU::Humanities::Literature||Issue Date:||2019||Abstract:||林徽因是一位诗人，翻译者，也是一位女建筑师。 Lin Huiyin was a poet, translator and the first female architect in China. However, she was also a controversial legendary figure in the history of modern Chinese literature, mainly because of her complicated friendship with Xu Zhi Mo. Lin Huiyin was highly recognised by Hu Shih for her literary talent, and she did prove her ability by excelling in all genres, ranging from poem, prose, fiction and play. She was also well known as the hostess of the famous literary salon in Beijing with the name of “Madam’s Salon”, which was held on every Saturday at her house. Her guests included many famous writers, such as Xu Zhimo, Bian Zhilin and more. Despite that Lin Huiyin was once highly recognised for her talents, she did not manage to publish any titles under her name during her lifetime. Instead, due to her emotional entanglement with the three men in her life, she was often misunderstood by others, resulting in her literary value being overlooked. Her name was also once being forgotten, and only remembered after her first book was published in 1985, which occurred thirty years after her death. Lin Huiyin was affectionate towards beautiful scenery, which was reflected in her writing in the form of concerns for the natural environment. Therefore, this thesis will focus on using the concept of "Nature Writing" as the theoretical framework to analyse and re-evaluate the true literary value of Lin Huiyin from three different perspectives, namely through her thoughts about life, attachment to places, as well as emotional discourse. This paper will comprise of five chapters with the first chapter as introduction, and the next three chapters on discussion regarding sub-topics such as life philosophy, nostalgic, childhood, eco-criticism, feminism and more. The last chapter will serve as the conclusion for the entire thesis.||URI:||http://hdl.handle.net/10356/76467||Rights:||Nanyang Technological University||Fulltext Permission:||restricted||Fulltext Availability:||With Fulltext|
