In 1955, the Malayan Communist Party (MCP) retreated to the forest in the northern part of Malaysia due to the failure of the Baling talk. The MCP has always been officially portrayed as a "terrorist" who undermined the harmony and peace of the community. The leftist literature has therefore been prohibited. When the MCP and the governments of Thailand and Malaya had signed the peace agreement in 1989, the MCP finally came out of the forest. After the agreement, the literatures of the MCP, such as Jin Zhi Mang’s “Ji E” and “Kang Ying Zhi Min Xiao Shuo Xuan”, could finally be published. The aims of Jin Zhi Mang’s literatures are to save the nation, resist British Colonialism and praise for the revolution. Bullying, hunger and death are the main themes of his literatures. His "Ji E" is a classic of war narratives in Mahua Literature and it’s also a classic of depicting hunger among the Chinese world literature. Based on the literary realism, Jin Zhi Mang wrote the stories of what he had experienced and collected from other MCP members. He tried to bring out the truth and also to encourage the MCP members by telling the readers the history that he had experienced through the depiction of the character and the rendering of death. This thesis attempts to clarify the way Jin Zhi Mang narrated, to explore how he presented his own history through the literatures, and to find out the purpose and effect of his literatures which are based on the literary realism.
