Title: Development of a crawler to collect online game playing traces

Abstract: Multiplayer online games have become an enormously popular form of entertainment that enables players to interact with one another concurrently in dynamic virtual game worlds through the Internet. Provisioning and optimizing online gaming services require good understanding of game playing workloads. The purpose of this project is to develop a software tool to automatically collect game usage data. Specifically, the student will develop a crawler to collect real game playing traces through official APIs (such as https://developer.riotgames.com/). The crawler should provide a graphical user interface that facilitates the configuration of collection and monitors the progress of collection. In addition to the crawler, some simple analytics of the data collected will also conducted by the tool. The project requires good programming skills.
