Abstract: This report contains the motivation and reasoning behind using a Kinect in the Healthcare sector. The research and implementation done is a continuation of a previously submitted project of a fall detection application. The Kinect is known for its use in the gaming industry with its usage along the Xbox gaming consoles and as well as amongst developers. The Kinect’s array of different depth sensors and audio sensors became a strong motivation in the implementation of this project. Even though the Kinect is now lowly supported, this shows that with the correct research and development, such a capable application can help workers in the healthcare sector.
