dc.description.abstract | This project aims to assist, SJ Motor Enterprise (SJ), a car rental company by revamping the whole process of the management of their fleet. SJ is a one stop heaven that specialize in selling and renting vehicles for private hirers to drive on the road, they have close to 400 vehicles in their fleet. The current status of the company is that they have been using the conventional method to calculate profit and losses through excel sheets and does not have a proper filing and archive system. With a huge number of hirers and an unorganized filing and archiving system, these payments and loans became an issue and made it difficult for the staffs to track and maintain. Additionally, only staffs that were directly in contact with the drivers would know the exact status of the car. Other staffs had to search for the records or had to ask manually. Moreover, payment made by the private hirers are difficult to track and maintain. They were contacted individually through phone calls for weekly payments and updates. This conventional and traditional way of system slows down the process of the rental of cars and sometimes create confusion within staffs. With emerging technologies in today’s world, the Fleet Management System (FMS) is developed with the vision to solve the issue in SJ, easing the intensity of the job scopes. FMS is a web application system that will help to alleviate the problem by providing the company with a structured and efficient way in collecting, tracking payments and displaying of the availability of vehicles. In addition, an android application with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is also developed to enhance the process. To achieve the goals, a detailed system requirement will be gathered from SJ management team. | en_US |
