Abstract: Beneath the cover of their hijabs, Muslim women are often expressive in their hairstyles—a surprising contrast to their traditional image of conservatism and modesty. In this documentary, we explore the story of sisters Ana and Ina, who are hairdressers in a Muslimah hair salon in Singapore. Our film examines the conflicting values between their creative professions and the expectations that come with putting on the hijab. This film also delves into the reasons why these Muslim women, despite being modestly covered, still actively find avenues of creative expression.
