Title: Between the eagle and the dragon : Singapore's foreign policy conundrum in the age of Trump and Xi
Authors: Tan, Suan Jin
Keywords: DRNTU::Social sciences::Political science::International relations
Issue Date: 2019
Abstract: This thesis examines Singapore's historical foreign policy approach vis-a-vis the United States and China, and with a new evolving geopolitical environment of a more assertive China and inward-looking United States, Singapore needs to re-examine its policy options and behavior. The thesis argues that Singaporean policy makers have to remain steadfast in neutrality, yet pragmatic with a constancy and faithfulness towards protecting Singapore's national interest as they continue to navigate the changing environs.
