Title: | REGO : food rescue on the go | Authors: | Loh, Gladys Ying Qian | Keywords: | DRNTU::Visual arts and music::Media | Issue Date: | 2019 | Abstract: | In 2017, Singapore was reported to have generated 809,900 tonnes of food waste - a staggering amount said to be able to feed everyone in the nation for 8 months consecutively according to National Environment Agency. While 9 out of 10 people claim to be concerned about food waste, amounts of food being thrown away continues to increase drastically and there is a lack of distribution of surplus food. Moreover, most people are not concerned with sustainability due to perceived lack of time for it. Rego, derived from “Rescue on the go”, is a digital service in response to this ongoing wastage issue in Singapore, with its goal of making reducing food waste convenient for everyone. By being a marketplace for businesses to sell surplus food at discounted prices, it serves as a swift cross-platform solution via app and website to connect businesses and consumers. It targets to serve as an actionable and convenient way to reduce the amount of surplus food in Singapore. Branded as chic, lively and good for the pocket, Rego uses a personal tone of voice to engage its audience into the sustainable movement in an inspiring manner. Rego ultimately aims to create a strong community of people who instil environmentally conscious habits in their daily lives. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/77550 | Schools: | School of Art, Design and Media | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
