Title: Development of active air terminal for ACMV systems

Abstract: The modern age we live in often stresses the importance of energy conservation. Thus, many efforts have been put through to improve our conventional Air-conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV) Systems to be more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. In the recent years, developments on Active Air Terminals (AAT) have advanced the use of innovative designs, such as Passive and Active Thermosiphon Beams (PTB/ATB), which are far superior over old ACMV systems. Not to mention, a more refined version of air terminal system, the Enhanced Passive Thermosiphon Beams (EPTB), was also newly introduced into the market with better energy efficiency and lower cost. In this research, EPTB will be put through a series of tests to determine its cooling performance. The relationship between EPTB’s cooling capacity and the average flow rate of the expelled cool air will be analysed. Additionally, Air Distribution Test will be performed, and the results collected will be used to compare with a Passive Thermosiphon Beam, so as to make sense of the EPTB’s air distribution capabilities.
