Title: | Design and simulate silicon photonics wavelength tunable laser | Authors: | Ling, Benny Jun Xian | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering | Issue Date: | 2019 | Abstract: | In this report, the need for research efforts in the mid-infrared wavelengths were investigated as well as the possible materials for the manufacturing of devices for said wavelengths. The materials were chosen based on the benefits and drawbacks when compared against the maturity of widespread industry processes. The design parameters for a tunable laser operating in the mid-infrared wavelength was also determined. The parameters obtained were based on modelling the individual components that make up various common and popular designs of tunable lasers. The main focus was placed upon the efficiency as well as quality of the output laser. The results in this report serves to provide a baseline upon which an integrated tunable laser device can be created. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/77734 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
