Issue Date: 2019
Abstract: Ultra-Wideband Impulse Radio (UWB-IR) technology is widely known by many to consume low power and occupy an extensive bandwidth for communications. This technology has developed into applications such as superb internet speed, target sensor data collection, radar-imaging and there are many more applications to be available. Thus, there is a need to conduct extensive research of what is involved in UWB-IR systems. This project aims to examine the power efficiency and power consumption of the system. Comparisons of the blocks in the receiver system will be covered and further elaborated in the report. Furthermore, the methods to measure the parameters of 2 blocks specifically- UWB antennas and bandpass filter will be demonstrated clearly for understanding purposes and for future researchers to work on improving the design of the blocks, to achieve better results in terms of power efficiency and power consumption.
