Title: Investigation on wheel and wheel flange engineering analyzations
Authors: Khong, Teck Song
Keywords: DRNTU::Engineering::Mechanical engineering
Issue Date: 2019
Abstract: The objective of this Project is to investigate how the wheel and rail would interact with each other, the type of damages found on the tread, wheel flange when interactions between rail occur. With the study and investigation, the type of damages, characteristic interaction performance, of the wheel and rail could be optimized, Interaction relation, there are many factors to consider, from the profile design of the wheel, the material composite of both rail and wheel, and the mechanical component on the train, example dampers, spring and suspension. Data of wheel measurement readings are collected from a wheel lathe machine. Their Specification of the springs, damper, Anti-roll bar etc. are precalculated by the train maker-Bombardier. The report also includes some of the Mechanical Properties and the Metrology of the Components. Couple with the understanding of the mechanical function and metrology of the components.
