Abstract: This thesis aims to design and develop a wearable device system that can help caregivers to remotely monitor the heart rate and motion movements of the elderly. A health band is designed for collecting data from various sensors. It sends all collected health’s data to a web server for analysis and storage. A web server is created for providing users a Graphic User Interface(GUI) to visualize the health information in a good manner. In addition, it also allows users to set the alert threshold values of pulse rate and fall condition. Whenever there is an abnormal event occurs, the system is capable to immediately send alarm to specific responders through email. With the help of this intelligent system, all caregivers are more convenient to monitor the heart rate and movements of the elderly in real-time through webpage. Moreover, the system will constantly evaluate the health condition and store all data so that it can be easier retrieved by caregivers or doctors for diagnosis purpose later. In General, this system is not only allowed caregivers to monitor the health condition and receive alarms, but also help to guide the elderly to avoid bad behaviors.
