Foreign direct investment and comparative advantages of Qinhuangdao city

Abstract

This dissertation starts with an introduction on the economic development and foreign capital utiliztion of Qinhuangdao city. It then moves to a discussion of leading and pillar industries that should be supported with the local government's policies. The discussion is based on the economic theory of regional development and the theory of comparative advantages. An analysis of the relationship between foreign direct investment and the local economic development, and the development of leading and pillar industries is conducted. Finally, the dissertation offers some policy recommendations for foreign direct investment utilixation and industrial development in Qinhuandao city.
