Microchannel is commonly used in modern heat transfer technologies. The microchannel and vortex generator are studied in this final year project, to assess the heat transfer and hydrodynamic performance. In this project, the inserts with vortex generators on the surface, and a diameter of 19.4mm will be fixed concentrically into a cylinder channel with 20mm inner diameter to create an annular gap of 300μm. Four different angles of vortex have been studied and there are 0°, 15 °, 30° and 45°. Among them 15 °, 30° and 45° have two different arrangements, and there is one insert without any protrusion, there are a total of 8 inserts. Experimental measurements will be conducted to quantify the thermal and hydrodynamic performance. Results show that, the insert A45 Max gives the highest heat transfer rate at unit pumping power of 2.en_US
