|Title:||Floating roller test on the hybrid adhesively bonded joints for remanufacturing||Authors:||Lau, Nicholas Kezheng||Keywords:||Engineering::Mechanical engineering||Issue Date:||2019||Abstract:||The purpose of this experiment, namely Floating Roller Peel Test, is to provide for metal-to-composite peel strength adhesives by a method to allow for great reproducibility. The sample preparation and testing methodology for peel strength is adapted from the metal to metal peel test approach of ASTM. To carry out this experiment, the floating roller fixture was fabricated with reference to document AD-A194 and D 3167, a study of the floating roller peel test for adhesives. This is accordance to the ASTM standards that are recognised. To ensure that complete information will be given for the fabrication of the floating roller fixture, it will be dimensioned and assembled accordingly to the document. Further modifications are carried out to ensure that the experiment is conducted with consistency. Another important aspect of this experiment is the conduct of the surface preparation of the specimens. The accuracy and results of the strength test will be based on various factors such as conditions of the adhesive bonds that have been applied and the processes that have been carried out. A surface roughness check will be conducted on the specimens to ensure that they conform to experimental consistency. Wettability check will be conducted to observe for the contact angles of various surfaces that are prepared for the experiment. Further investigation will be conducted to check on the surface energy of the specimens. This is done to check for high energy or low energy that is required when conducting the peel test for various specimens. Higher surface energy will require higher strength to peel the material. Upon completion of proper specimen preparation, the modified floating roller fixture will be tested in accordance to document AD-A194 to understand the peel test for adhesives using floating roller fixture. This is done and compared with the experiments that are tested on Aluminium 2024 and 6061 in AD-A194.
