Practical transdisciplinary research for axiological bridge-building

Abstract

Divisions between disciplines, and divisions between academics and those external to them. The current academic structures and systems are perhaps ill-suited for mending these divisions. Might the ideas of Trandisciplinarity(Td) help to break the boundaries, or would its elusive conceptualisation fail to render any impact? Td is a term in reference towards connecting the various academic disciplines with various definitions, but often sharing overarching themes and values such as transcendence, collaboration, open-mindedness and holism. In reviewing the literature involving the philosophy of Td, this essay shall propose the most practical yet effective means of increasing the overall impact of Td philosophy, largely in terms of Mode 2 Transdisciplinary Research.
