Abstract: “艳史”是通过中国古典艳情文学,诸如小说、诗词、笔记和类书等集大成的野史传统,所形成的一套中国性爱艺术的合法叙事机制。此传统叙事不但倾向于褒扬“情”,也把身体习癖重复进行操演的效果总结为“癖”。但此传统叙事来到近现代中国却开始面临不断收缩与崩散的局面。“艳史”对性爱叙事的合法性,渐渐被现代社会以“性科学”为名的“性史”的病理叙事机制所取代。本文把这套现代社会叙述人类各种性/别不驯历史的病理机制称为“性史”。在这套强大的性史机制下,古代中国艳史叙述所褒扬的“情”和“癖”之传统通通被改写成性欲的奇观,不然就是性爱的禁忌。有学者把“癖”视为中国古代传统把同性恋病理化的依据,认为此字足以和西方被污名化的“homosexuality”等量齐观。本文认为“癖”一词在中国古代文学里未必是疾病的象征,有必要先厘清“癖”字的语义流变在不同的中国时代脉络经历褒贬不一的起落。本文首先追溯“癖”字的语义流变,并指出它在明清经历过一段非病理化的发展,进入现代中国以后又开始被五四文人进行病理化至今。最后,本文又论述了在西方性史的叙事权力机制以“性科学”之名进入中国前夕,近代中国的性爱艺术是如何透过艳史传统呈现女色和男色。本文以晚清文人王韬的“艳史”为例,结合他的各种笔记、游记、日记、文言小说和香艳旧诗词,探讨他在这些文本中如何通过追忆和建构妓女和优伶的身体路径,再现和哀悼艳史传统癖好在近代中国的没落。
