Issue Date: 1997
Abstract: This work examines both theoretical and practical aspects of supervisory control within the IPS framework. This begins with the proposition that the IPS is a structured approach to Expert Control by giving a clear definition of the process supervisor task. Next, the generic operations within a process control system are examined and a theoretical formalism to the IPS is proposed.
