Abstract: Mortality trend studies can help in the improvements of our future lives and in the government’s strategic planning for the country. By tracing mortality trends of the Singapore population over the period 1984 - 1999, we attempt to explain the various factors that caused the differentials in terms of gender, ethnicity and age.
