Abstract: To combat drug resistant bacteria, synthetic antimicrobial polymeric materials have attracted considerable attention in recent years. However, most synthetic antimicrobial polymers are consisting of non-degradable carbon-based backbones, limiting their potential in clinical applications. In this sense, we have successfully synthesized degradable glycosylated antibacterial polycaprolactones. Besides, a series of ROMP polymers with acid and base sensitivity have been produced and preliminary results suggested that the scaffold is possible to be applied as antimicrobial agents. Aside from this, an alternative strategy to construct molecules targeting both Gram-positive and Gram-negative cell walls has been developed.
