Abstract: This research examined the relationship of gender, dispositional variables (personal qualities) and contextual variables (organisation culture and perceived environmental uncertainty) with leadership style. The effects of four different leadership styles (transactional, transformational, charismatic and abusive) were examined and associations were found between these styles and the various effects they had on subordinates.
