Abstract: Recent rapprochements in China-Japan and Japan-South Korea relations have raised hopes for a trilateral mechanism in dispute-torn Northeast Asia. If this reconciliation process is successful, it would serve as the first steps toward regional integration of the three biggest economies in East Asia, with major implications for ASEAN.
