Abstract: This paper examines the informational contents of between insider trading, firm performance and earnings management. Together, our evidence suggests that insiders are rational economic agent. They not only appear to trade on the basis of their superior information about contemporaneous and next period earnings innovations; they also appear to use their discretion in financial statement reporting in insider trading.
